Our Clients

JK Autoworks has been serving Thurston County residents since 1994. Our customers come from all over the region and some have been with us for as long as we’ve been in business. It’s not uncommon for someone to call and say, “My son’s car is making this strange noise. What do you think it is?” After a while we get to know our clients’ habits and who might need an extra reminder about maintenance or inspections. In many ways we’re like a family doctor – only for cars.

In 2008 the readers of the Nisqually Valley News voted us Best Automotive Repair in the Nisqually Valley, and we are continually one of the most recommended shops in the county. Thanks, everybody!

Our Team

Owner Joe Keeslar moved to Washington State from Michigan after graduating from Ferris State University with a degree in Automotive Service Technology and working for a number of shops and dealerships in the mid-west. While he loves working on all kinds of automotive issues, he admits to a particular fondness for brakes. His favorite part of the process is seeing the smiles that spread across client’s faces when they drive their car for the first time after getting it serviced.

Lead mechanic Ron Huret is a fourth generation resident of Rainier who grew up watching the local automotive shop on the corner take care of customers, a role he has since stepped into himself. After several years gaining experience in auto shops in Spokane, he moved back to his hometown. He’s knowledgeable about a wide range of vehicles and specializes in electrical work, including installing stereo systems.

As mechanics, we’re in the problem-solving business. The best case scenario is that we solve your problem before it happens through preventative maintenance, but if it’s too late for that, we’ll take care of everything from brake and clutch repairs to computer diagnostics and electrical services and much more.

On the maintenance side, we offer a spectrum of services including inspections, fluid flushes and changes, general tune-ups, and more specialized items such as Motor Vac fuel injection system checks. To view a complete list of our services, visit the Services page.

Our Process

What can you expect when you contact us? Everything begins with a conversation. We’ll ask you as many questions as possible about whatever issue you’re having before we even schedule an appointment. Once you’ve brought the car in and we’ve taken a look, we’ll call you with an estimate based on what we’ve found and the approximate amount of time it will take to fix it.

If anything changes and the estimate increases, we’ll let you know before moving forward. Along the way we’ll explain what’s happening with the different components of your vehicle and how they work together and when we’re done, we’ll go over the warranty with you. You’ll leave with a stronger understanding and – we hope – a new relationship with your car.
